![]() there are tons of brushes and effects, but no layers on tile maps, and animations are also much clunkier than in Aseprite Cosmigo Pro Motion NG: this feels like the tool I should be using, but at the same it also feels like stepping back 20 years in terms of UX. not really sure if I dislike the way Pyxel Edit handles them, but Aseprite makes it easier once layers get involved imho Pyxel Edit: tiles are very nice and intuitive, but everything else is quite a bit worse than the others (layers suck a lot compared to PS where you can get nice effects with blend modes nearly for free), animations are "different". animations are way more complicated than in Aseprite, and also no support for tile maps Photoshop: even though I have quite a bit of experience with photoshop itself, doing pixel art in it feels kind of dirty. Aseprite: works nicely for animations and drawing, but no support for tile maps Here's my thoughts on the software I've bought & tried extensively (10-20 hours at least). Also I can't make myself happy using X, if the rest of the professional world is using Y, unless I have a good reason. I want to use the best tool for the job, and given I'm just starting out, I doubt that my choice will be the best one in the long run. People always say try them all and see which one you like the most, but I'm not capable of that. ![]() During that time I've tried many different tools, but haven't found just the one I'd want to use for everything. It's better to wait a few weeks.Over the past few months, I've been trying to learn some pixel art. Generally, updating to a new OS instantly is a bad idea, because something will always break. Keep in mind that we are not the only ones affected by this, Toonboom also is (as David said). For Monterey, we were not able to install it on some of the Macs that could run it (and not all of them can), while for Big Sur we were ready weeks before it was released. For High Sierra (10.13), the dongles would not work during the beta, and when the OS released, they were working.Īnd those are the situations when we were actually able to install the Beta. When we were still using our old dongles, sometimes during the beta phases, the dongles would not work, then with the following beta version they would work again, and then not.ĭuring Yosemite (10.10), on the last beta, the dongles were working, and when the OS released, they were no longer working and Safenet had to release a fix for this (and it took them weeks). However, there has always been a random factor with Apple updates. We are also frustrated with the situation ourselves. I understand your frustration, and your concerns are valid. Again, I'm sure there is a logical reason, I would just like to know why this seems to happen every year. Yes, I'm a habitual early adopter, so I suppose it's on me that TVPaint doesn't work on my main system, but I'm feeling a bit frustrated with the regularity of this problem with TVPaint. ![]() All the apps I use from Adobe, Maxon, and Autodesk work fine. Dmceachern wrote: ↑, 23:22I'm sorry, I'm a bit ignorant of the process, but I'm struggling to understand why it was just discovered with the public release of Monterey that things didn't work? The OS has been in beta for months and was announced in June. ![]()
